Nice questions - it seems that organized efforts in science an engineering can bring prosperity (through development of medicines, refrigeration, etc.) and that organized efforts in inter-human relations can bring peace. But, it also seems that there are many organized efforts (wars, conquests, institutionalized slavery) that have brought prospertity to one society at a great detriment to another.
