That strip of sky, and those few stars, how far did they carry Gora today from the accusstomed world of his everyday life, and from the well-known round of his daily work! They had watched for ages the rise and fall of countless dynasties, the prayers and efforts of unnumbered centuries; and yet, at the call of one human heart to another from the fathomless depths of life, those stars and that sky seemed to vibrate with some speechless hankering from the verge of the world!
